SUPERVISION raconte la faillite d’un mouvement. Les motifs répétitifs frétillent, grésillent et se démènent contre la stase des vues hypnotiques.
Pour cette exposition, le cinéaste Nathaniel Draper continue de chiner les rythmes compressés et expansés des images en mouvement qui se trament dans ses films.
Les vidéos, photos et installations sonores électrifient l’œil du flâneur des villes. Des jeux de réflexion Lo-Fi alimentent une torsion dans l’œil et dans le paysage urbain qui le cerne. Draper bricole des input data live qui se baladent sur un orgue ou sur un mur roulant. Sorte de proto-VR biturée, il fabrique une série de lunettes-miroirs qui augmentent et détournent la perception spatiale.
En une bizarre harmonie, la cacophonie extérieure se réfracte.

In Supervision, filmmaker Nathaniel Draper, assembles an array of video, photo and audio installations that converge around an idea of failing movement, with vibrating loops that struggle to escape their fixed moment and moving images converging toward hypnotic stasis.
The electrified sound and image sculptures, feeding on live input data, make a reflexive twist that points not just at the viewer’s position, but outward toward the immediate environment, playing on the literary figure of the passive urban observer with devices that feed the surroundings deliberately back to us.
The perceptual games at play can be worn, as well, with sets of mirrored glasses that augment and divert spatial perceptions. The result is a refraction of a cacophonous exterior into an unsettling harmony, based in the expansions and contractions of time and that have been a common theme to a number of his previous films.
